Have been extremely busy with various things which have meant I’ve neglected to update the blog in the last few months.
Been busy organising the wedding and working on refreshing my programming knowledge with C#.
This update is from my phone by the way which is awesome. WordPress have done an amazing job getting this working on android. I wonder how well this works with Google voice? I’ll have to try that later.

It’s been a while since my last post but that’s only because I haven’t had anything interesting to report. Not to worry this post will hopefully allow you to understand why.
Firstly I’ve been going through a book I borrowed from my local library. I know it’s shocking right, well you’d understand where I’m coming from if you saw my local library! Anyway the book is called Get the Most from Photoshop
by Simon Joinson. It’s going well, so well in fact that I’ve had to renew the book 3 times over the last 2 months and I’m only just half way. What can I say the lure of the Xbox- damn that Batman game is good! – and blogging, surfing, social networking has meant it’s been forgotten. Fear not I will continue and hopefully by my next post I will have returned the book to the library and I’ll be able to “wow” you with the graphics and artwork I produce.
In the meantime if you’re looking for a book which helps illustrate how to use certain essential Photoshop tools, I’d highly recommend this book.

Since purchasing my domain I’ve been re-learning a number of key web design techniques. So the first design I came up with was very bland and generic. Understandable given my “hiatus” from the web arena. With a lot of feedback (when I say a lot I mean close family, friends, and work colleagues!) I went back to the drawing board, read more, experimented. In a surprising short amount of time I came up with the design you see at the moment which I’m calling “version 2″.
For this version I wanted to cut back on the number of <div> tags and making the CSS cleaner and leaner. Visually I wanted more colour and a clean logo which was simple and a bit “Web 2.0″. I think I’ve achieved that. However as with everything it’s a long process and an evolving one. I’m getting back into Fireworks and trying to learn more and eventually move over to Photoshop. Not that I will completely ditch Fireworks, it’s great for web based graphics and compresses images dramatically.
Anyway enough rambling, I hope you like the redesign, let me know if you have any suggestions or comments.

For a while now I’ve been developing my site which to my surprise has taken a while. This is obviously because of the various things I have learnt on the way and the various design changes.
One of the things that I have been focusing on recently is getting my WordPress blog customised to have the same look and feel of the overall site. Obviously I knew nothing about WordPress or how it worked, but the ‘So you want to create WordPress themes huh?‘ series of tutorials from WPDesigner.com covered everything I needed to know. It’s easy to follow and the best part was it had lots of pictures
However the article was written in 2007 and after reading some of the comments, a few things have changed in the latest version of the WordPress. Most comments were about the way comments are handled. Although I thought I had finished I think there is a lot more I need to learn.
